4 More Misconceptions About Solar Energy Solutions
People have a lot of ideas about solar panels and solar energy solutions. Some of them are positive, some are negative, and some are just not true. If you’re not an expert in solar energy, it can be hard to sort fact from fiction. Our Renewables Worldwide team has addressed some major myths about solar panels and solar power on our blog before, but there are more misconceptions than we could cover in one post. In this post, we’re going to clear the air about some more misconceptions about solar energy.
Let’s set the record straight about solar panels and solar energy solutions by looking at some more common misconceptions.
Solar panels require constant maintenance.
Solar panels have no moving parts, making them relatively low-maintenance. To keep them functioning properly, periodic inspections and cleaning are usually sufficient. Serious damage would come from outside sources, such as animals, debris, or weather events.
Solar power can’t fully power your business.
This is only true if the system of solar panels isn’t sufficient to generate the necessary amount of electricity. The more power a business needs to draw, the more power the solar energy system needs to generate. When a building can’t get enough power from solar panels, the solution is a bigger system that is prepared to provide the energy needed.
Solar power isn’t environmentally friendly.
People are rightfully concerned about the impact a new energy solution will have on the environment. Solar energy produces clean energy without emitting harmful pollutants. It also saves water because solar farms also use far less water than conventional power plants that need water for cooling.
Solar power isn’t practical for large-scale production.
Because people are used to seeing a few solar panels on the roof of a home or commercial building, it is understandable that they would think that solar energy is only suitable for small-scale production. However, large-scale solar farms can produce huge amounts of electricity. We don’t see these large solar farms as often because they require wide open spaces which are far away from the places we live, work, and travel.
